Service-Learning

The College endeavours to further develop Service-Learning which is an experiential pedagogy that integrates academic “learning" with “service”, enabling students to apply their knowledge and skills creatively while addressing real societal needs. In line with the University’s plan, the School partners with non-profit organisations serving a broad spectrum of vulnerable communities. Through structured Service-Learning with critical reflection, students grow in empathy and in the long run contribute to the greater good of society.

Service-Learning

The School jointly organizes weekly lunch gathering known as Nurse*Zone with HKBU Chaplain’s Office and Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (HKBH) Pastoral Care Department with a theme on “Knowing Self and Appreciating Others” for all BNurs students. While nurturing students’ soft skills in listening to self and others as well as self-reflection, this series serves as an oasis for nursing students to adapt to the new learning environment, and to foster spiritual care learning among peers.

SCE provides me with numerous opportunities to engage in service-learning activities. These experiences have greatly enhanced my personal growth, and most importantly, made me realise that life lessons cannot be learned simply by observing. You have to “walk the walk”. Thanks to the people whom I have served and worked alongside. They have shown me the beauty of life even in adversity.
